In my previous post I shared some pages out of my art journal for the first time around, and spoke a little bit about some classes I’ve taken. One of those I mentioned briefly was a workshop with Donna Downey during her visit to the Montreal area, where she shared some techniques on doing some lovely abstract work with acrylic paints. It was a wonderful experience to get to meet her and actually tell her directly what an inspiration she’s been in how I perceive myself as an artist. I was art journaling quite a bit before I discovered her work, following a handful of wonderful artists (who I still follow) to learn new techniques, but it was through her that I started having the courage to venture outside of the closed secrecy of a journal and start working on canvases.
So here is the series of canvases I made during that weekend. The first three are of them newly hung on my wall while the others, on the other hand, are actually taken in some decent daylight.
