Dusting Things Off

WordPress tells me it’s been five months since my last post. October 8th 2012 to be exact.

That seems a little excessive if you ask me. I mean, I’ve been doing crafty things since then, it can’t be that I haven’t posted at all in all these months, right? How eager I am for the days when I can just plug my brain to the PC and upload a stream of conscious thoughts as a post instead of actually having to sit down and compose something.

The realization that I haven’t posted in just over five months came coupled with the realization this past weekend that I really miss knitting. I’ve been doing crafty things in general, but just haven’t picked up any needles in quite some time. Around the same time as that last post I started working on the Christmas knitting, and unfortunately I didn’t end up finishing any of them. My goal is to finish those “gifts” before starting anything new, but I’m in a rut when it comes to working on those projects. So the age-old dilemma; don’t start anything new until you finish a WIP but you lack motivation to finish those WIPs in the first place.

In the meantime, I have been kept busy with other things.

Things such as weaving, spinning, and painting. I wove a large shawl type thing (first picture) and one scarf. I spun a few skeins of yarn, including what I consider to be my first successful knittable yarn (second picture). And I’ve been painting a lot. Mostly personal stuff in the art journal (I know, I keep saying I’ll share that but it’s hard. A lot of those pages are very personal) but there were some paintings for other purposes, such as homemade wrapping paper (third picture).

I’ll get into more details about each of these projects – and more! – ¬†provided I can successfully kick myself in the behind and start posting again on a semi-regular basis.
